While it’s starting to cool off outside, the Banfield team remains in high gear, continuing to tackle work from an extremely busy summer. Although we’d like to take a load off — drink some cider or dreamily watch the leaves change colour — we’re still busy working on a few new projects that we’ll be excited to share with you in the near future.
With so much going on, we still felt it was important to update you on some current company news — so grab a hot drink, your favourite comfy fall sweater and settle in!
New renovations, Same old building
Our office building received quite the face lift this past summer — one that, despite taking a few weeks of work, left very little differences to the exterior appearance. But that’s kind of the point.
Known as the Armstrong House, the building was classified “heritage” by the City of Ottawa in 1976, long before Banfield acquired the site as our offices in 1997. Knowing the nature of renovating a historic site — 35 Armstrong was built for supreme court judge Christopher Armstrong in 1845 — the construction plans more about maintain than changing too much.
Some of the work included: a newly installed accessibility ramp at left-side of our front entrance, restored pillars at our front entrance, and a complete wash of the windows and other quick fixes here and there. We also got the chance to repair an interior section of the studio that had suffered from water damage.
Meet our newest addition: Eleanor
This September, Banfield welcomed a new addition to our Strategy team: Eleanor Beale.
Eleanor joins us after two years of industry work in Toronto and Ottawa, on both the agency and the client side. Her experiences include strategy, social media and research projects for large brands such as Koodo and Porsche. She also recently completed a Master’s in Digital Media from Ryerson University.
Outside of work, Eleanor spends her time lifting moderately heavy weights, watching talent-based reality TV or doing crosswords.
We’re excited to have her on the team to bring a new perspective and skillset to our brand and marketing strategies as well as to the research front.
Keep an eye out for these upcoming projects
Now and again, we try to make this a place for you to scope out new projects before they launch. This month, we’ve got a lot to share.
We’re proud to be working with Health Canada on a number of important initiatives with a focus on healthy eating, drug awareness and smoking cessation. In addition, we’re collaborating with Carleton University’s Sprott School of Business and the Canadian Intellectual Property Office on campaigns with a real storytelling focus. We’re also partnering with Omnispace, a global communications company, to help with branding and messaging.
Lots of exciting stuff on the go, so stay tuned for more updates about these projects.
Celebrating Banfield’s 45th anniversary
This fall, Banfield is turning 45! Founded back in 1973, and at one point one of only 11,000 sites on the World Wide Web, Banfield is striding into agency middle-age with more energy than ever.
This historical perspective makes us even prouder of our recent successes, including the announcement of the new Banfield leadership team — highlighted by new President, Timothy Jones, and new Director of Client Services, Véronique Gravel — as well as the launch of our new and improved company website!
Look for more content on our anniversary, our history and our direction as a company in the upcoming issue of the newsletter.
3rd Annual Banfield Holiday Happy Hour
Our annual Holiday Happy Hour party is fast approaching, and for those of you who don’t know about it —keep your eyes out for your official invitation.
In the past, the event offered something for everyone, from exquisite oysters and signature drinks, to a photobooth with props and live showpieces that transformed our space (sometimes literally!). We hope to make this year’s even more exceptional!
This is also our chance of the year to say ‘thank you’ and put some faces to the names that we’ve been working with. So stop by after work and join the #BanFam for good food, good times and even better company!
