Creativity is important to us here at Banfield (if you couldn’t tell). That’s why each month, we’re highlighting a member of the #Banfam whose individual creative output lets our team reach their full potential.
This month, Web Developer Lisa Mooney tells us how cross-stitching helps her slow down when things start moving a little too fast.
What is your personal creative project?
Cross-stitch.
What do you like about it?
There is something kind of Zen about it. It allows me to work at my own pace and block everything else out for a while. There’s a lot going on in the world right now, and sometimes it’s really nice to just not think about it so much, like a kind of mindful meditation.
It’s also really easy to learn and a fairly inexpensive hobby.
How does working on this help you in the rest of your life (Banfield work, outside obligations, etc)?
My main takeaway from cross-stitch is to have patience, which is something I definitely have trouble with. I know that I also tend to race through things and don’t concentrate on the details so much. It’s really hard to rush through a cross stitch though, so I have to learn to take my time and concentrate on what I am doing at that moment. It’s a lesson I am still learning.
